O My Soap is having its first “O You Dirty Dog” contest. We’ve been making the soap….O You Dirty Dog…..for a number of years and decided to change our soap labels. Jennifer is drawing real dogs as our own in house dirty dogs….so from our market customers which you may be one of them, we are asking for pictures of your dogs. The winner gets their dog’s gorgeous face on the soap labels plus an original drawing of your dog…..by our own Jennifer! Here is our little dirty dog! Her name is Clover and she is a Yorkie and Maltese mix and is 5 years old.

Sitting on the Fence

You wouldn’t ride a horse half on and half off……would you? You wouldn’t take a bath with half of you out of the tub…..would you? You couldn’t swim half in the water and the other half of you out of the water…..could you? You would never drive a car with your legs dragging along the road…..would you? You have to decide if you want to ride that horse or not…..you have to decide if you want to take a bath or be dirty!……you must decide if you want to swim in that pool or be hot!……you should decide to get yourself all the way in that car or stay home! You can’t sit on the fence.

Our times are perilous. I can say it in these words…the unsteady economy, wars, crime, famine, earthquakes, tribulations, godlessness, false bible teachers. We’re facing the end times.

Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. ~Isaiah 55:6

Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.   ~Joshua 24:15

Have you decided whom you will serve? Have you made that decision to finally turn your lives over to the Lord and just release yourself in His loving arms and just rest in Him? Are you tired of being on the edge of that fence, not really being loyal to anything or Anyone? This has been on my heart for so long and I urge you to seek Him while He is near. The grace that God bestows on us is just so awesome. As the following scripture says it perfectly:

Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” ~Isaiah 55:7

As I struggle to get out of bed, a little stiff and groggy, I look out the window to see what kind of day I am facing. Another hot, humid sunny day. Not a day I really want to face.

Stepping inside the shower, the water is slowly waking me up and I start to feel a little renewed just by the stream of hot water splashing over my face. I wish I were the kind to sing in the shower…I love to sing, but not in the shower… But if I were a shower-singer, I think I would choose “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. I think about the words to that age old hymn: “ Great is thy faithfulness, Great is thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed thy hand hath provided; Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me!”

My mind wanders and I think that every day is like an artist’s canvas….a new day…never been used before. As I sip my coffee, now really feeling like me, I start to think about the day ahead of me. It is a new day, and I pray that today I will pay attention to God’s new mercies. They are there every morning, but my attention is always grabbed by the immediate needs at the particular moment.

How will I fill this canvas today, I ponder? I would love to be an encouragement to others…watch what I say and how I say it. But last week I was a little grumpy to a friend…..does that ruin my canvas for today? Actually, no. I have a new canvas today. I can put anything I want on it…I do want it to be pleasing to the eye though.
As an artist gets his canvas ready to paint, he sits in front of the canvas and feels the anticipation of a new piece of art. He has hope. He knows that the canvas from yesterday is sitting against the wall and no matter how many mistakes he sees in it, he knows that today he can start a new work. He starts painting and slowly the colors emerge together and he sees before him a new work appearing. He has even more hope….he gets excited and works more feverishly……until it is finished. He is satisfied. .

God gives me the chance to be the artist ….But He prepares me a canvas for a new day by giving me the hope and forgiveness that only comes from Him. He gives me peace that only comes from Him. He shows me His love every day by the simple newness of this morning. He smoothers me with His mercy and grace. His hope, forgiveness, peace, love, mercy and grace produce such an array of colors that only our Lord could put together. And no matter if I get a smudge on this canvas, I know that He will blend it in the rest of the colors.

That is hope. That is hope for a new day. I will take today and thank the Lord for a chance to use this day to His glory…….Great is Thy faithfulness!

Friday night found me in the dark cutting my lavender…I wouldn’t dare do it during the day as the bees would be furious knowing their precious lavender was being taken away from them. I kind of wondered what they thought today when they woke up to a shaved lavender bush!

It took me over an hour to make these lavender bundles….14 to be exact.

Jim took one basket to the Hickory market……

And I took this basket to the Charlotte market…

We came back with 9!! I was so surprised that we didn’t sell them all. I am going to harvest more for next week’s markets as I have lavender coming all over the place! I think I will put them in something that will hold them upright instead of putting them in a basket.
